For some people, the holidays are a perfect hate storm, chased down with After Eight mints and mulled guilt. Jason Eisener feels your pain and responded with Treevenge, a short film about the life of a Christmas tree (“prepare to have your Yuletides yacked!”), shot while waiting for production of the full-length Hobo With a Shotgun film to get underway. Co-written by Eisener and Rob Cotterill, and starring the familiar (and bloody) faces of Jonathan Torrens, Sarah Dunsworth, Lex Gigeroff, Glenn Mathews and Kristin Slaney, the 15-minute short premiered last week at Montreal’s Fantasia genre film festival.

This ain’t no Charlie Brown Christmas—the trees are pissed and judging from the production photos, they’re sick of being woodchip victims of the season. Who knew that grannie’s old tree topper could make such a fine throwing star?
