Did those lime-green throw pillows from Winners look nasty once you get them home? The Halifax Crafters’ Rainy Days Handmade Market might be what you need to put some one-of-a-kind back in your life, on this weekend at the North Street Church (5657 North), Saturday from 11am to 5pm and Sunday from 12pm to 6pm.According to organizer Roisin Fagan, “The event is bigger than it ever has been and has been moved up to the North Street Church to accommodate all of the craftiness that is bursting the Khyber’s seams. Another new feature is great food, including blueberry jam-filled doughnuts from the Handicraft Hash House, as well as face-painting and a kids’ craft table on Sunday from 2pm to 4pm to keep them occupied while you peruse.”Look for some familiar crafters such as Inkstorm Screenprinting Collective, Turnstile Pottery, Orphanage Clothing, Gary Markle’s comfy home decor and clothing, Amanda Fullerton’s gorgeous headpieces and Michelle St. Onge’s prints. St. Onge, in addition to her graphic animal portraits, is now creating Maritime scenes on reclaimed wood. I’m very curious about Lee Meszaros’s merit badges for adults and Marianne Collins’ mini-portraits and plan on picking up another one of Kyla Francis’ porcelain hood ornament necklaces, to match my skull and muscle-arm one.
