The benefit that’s been rocking the US since the early 2000s, and internationally (including Ontario) for several years as well, is finally making its way east. “It’s the first ever Halifax Light of Day,” says Peter Elkas who will be performing at The Carleton on Sunday to help raise money for Parkinson’s Disease research. “We are coming as a full band and haven’t done a Halifax show in quite awhile,” he says. “I’m excited not only to raise money for Light of Day but also to do a show.” Elkas, who also played with Joel Plaskett Emergency, has a lot of local love. “Halifax is close to my heart due to Plaskett. I can’t wait to come and play for my friends again.” Speaking of, there’s rumours that Joel will be in attendance, so cross your fingers. “What that means we’re not sure,” says Elkas. “Maybe he’ll be inspired to take the stage, who knows.” If good music isn’t enough, the ticket price also earns you a three-course meal and if you’re feeling extra generous, there’s no limit to how much you can donate. “We invite people to come and spread their money around,” he says.
