A Bollywood blockbuster on Halifax screens, My Name is Khan thankfully plays here with none of the controversy that greeted its release in India in February. That tumult is too nuanced to elaborate here, but it is worth looking into independently as it comments on one of the questions My Name raises: Can people with deeply felt prejudices and fears be changed? Shah Rukh Khan, one of India’s biggest movie stars, plays the titular Khan, a Muslim Indian in the USA, whose Asperger’s syndrome makes him interpret literally his wife’s exasperated command that he go tell the president that “My name is Khan and I am not a terrorist.” Khan sets out on a sincerely cutesy journey across America, allaying any fears or misconceptions that confront him. My Name has some diversions that strain patience and credibility, but the film’s overall ebullience is charming.

  1. this movie is very nice. SRK puts up his best performance ever. It is journey that touches everyone heart. IT IS NO 3 IDIOT just remember that when you go watch the movie. It is better then 3 idiots I do not care about Box office collections. I watched this movie ten times already and I think everyone did a good job. KJO nice job got to credit the writers Shibani Bathija and Niranjan Iyengar. Srk and Redchillie. I think you get a bit of everything. Has a love story, problems, funny at parts and get to see KAJOL AND SRK again work the magic. SRK is the movie the way he plays the character of who has Asperger’s syndrome is played out perfect. The deserves A lots of award. Like he has in the mvoie I want lot of food. GOOD JOB five out of five wish there was a higher scale to rate a movie.
