Out of the hundreds of credited cast in Logan, three women have names. There is Laura (Dafne Keen), the mute young girl slash mutant who decapitates men with no feeling or expression. There is Gabriela (Elizabeth Rodriguez), who is murdered. There is Kathryn (Elise Neal), who is murdered. There is a solider who says “Here you go,” but she is not murdered. There is a motel manager who Logan tells to get her fat ass out of here, tough love so she isn’t murdered probably. There are characters called Mourning Widow, Car Dealer, Bridesmaid, Mutant Child, Screaming Casino Woman and Pine Cone Girl. Logan is rated 18, for “brutal violence.” Many more nameless men than women are murdered, often by Logan, often through their faces, throats and skulls. The women do not suffer their deaths with any less violence. Three important men, named, with histories and layers, die too. The movie pauses and allows each of their passings a solemn grace, as dictated by its audience, single-minded and insatiable.

Uh…I’m all for gender equality, but I really don’t understand this review at all. The movie’s bad because it has more male characters than female ones? That’s it?
You can’t win with you people. You say you want equality but oh no we cant have women killed in moves or at least not as violently as the men. Oh so you cast a female who also happens to be a minority as one of the leads, not good enough there needs to be more women. Virtually every character is murdered including Logan himself twice counting X-24, the only person who doesn’t get killed or murdered is X-23 and a few nameless mutant kids.What do you even mean in this article?
What are you talking about? There were 3 main characters (MAYBE 4 if you count the villain, but then count Gabriela too) in this movie and 1/3 of them were female. The rest of the cast were bit parts.
I didn’t see anyone complaining about The Hunger Games or Divergent…
Tara Thorne you should be banned from ever writing a professional review ever again. This review is awful and you should feel awful. Don’t make this about men vs women, you are the problem. Stop dividing us.
This is a typical pseudo feminist trying to garner attention by pointing out ridiculous “flaws.” The story (a well written and well acted story, mind you), is about several very specific characters, who are male. Would you have them cast a female in the part of Logan to satisfy your petty sensibilities? As others have said, I am all for Gender equality, but I am not sorry every story is not about women. Quack.

Logan has almost no female characters… except the tertiary protagonist who will unquestionably continue into other films where she will become (at least once) the primary protagonist, and, the character whose actions propel the entirety of the narrative (the nurse).
What’s this about quality over quantity? Balderdash!
This is the first Logan movie I’ve seen and it was very confusing, to be honest. All of a sudden this man has claws that come out of his hands? Most of the characters’ backstory is never explained, which is sloppy filmmaking. It felt like a ripoff of other better road movies like Mad Max. All in all, 9/10 stars.

It failed to critique with the context of Wolverines history in the Marvel universe and in the many comics. It’s not a movie review, it’s a op ed on feminism. No story or plot discussion; no in depth character analysis; in fact nothing about the movie other than it’s violent which is identified in it’s rating.

This is a movie review? Jesus. It’s barely a completed thought.
It is a movie with a burly man who heals quick and has claws that pop out of his knuckles? I do think that Marvel and whoever makes action movies and comic movies should have more female characters kick ass and taking names, but to fill up a movie like that with women, it wouldn’t work.
The world isn’t perfect, by any means. Reviewer adjust.
They do this just to rankle people with the irony.

Tara Thorne should NEVER EVER “review” a marvel movie again.. She doesnt get it.. …..SPOLIER ALERT…..The movie was about the end of Logan. His regrets, his fears, his internal struggle and him slowly losing the last person he loved(Xavier) also finding a new one. Being the last of their kind alive has no bearing on how many dongers are in a movie. It was emotionally epic and well rounded. The movie was violent and gruesome without restraint because it echoed how Logans internal emotional state, how he felt he was at war with life itself. You know when a story grabs the audience in profound manner when the credits start and the theatre is 100% silent…. Also… X-23 actor/character was BRILLIANT
Has anybody talked to Logan about this? I hope this review didn’t hurt his feelings. I guess they’ll heal! LOL!
