Chocolate causes zits, flowers are sprayed with pesticides and you’ll never get a restaurant reservation anyway, so why not show that special lady/dude how you feel by taking them to a special Thrillema screening of My Bloody Valentine, this Thursday, February 12 (Empire Cinema 6, 650 Portland, 9pm). Of course, in Thrillema style they’re showing the original 1981 version, none of that 2008 3D crap for your loved ones.

Plus it’s local—-the film was shot in Sydney Mines, by director George Mihalka, who will also be at the screening. And you can buy your tickets online at empiretheatres.com.

  1. For you George Mihalka fanboys out there, he’s no longer going to be able to make it to the screening. This is the message that Thrillema sent out to their Facebook group…

“Hey guys, ive got some bad news!
George Mihalka will not be able to attend the screening of My Bloody Valentine in 2 days. The film he was going to be shooting here got pushed a little so he wont be in town this week. Which sucks, but doesnt mean were not going to have an awesome time.
We got the 35mm film print, which is dope. I also have a pretty awesome pre show reel to show, with another short from Sundance thats really going to creep you out.
So please come on out and watch the coolest friggin movie thats ever been shot in our back yard!
    Keep it loaded
    Jason”
