Raise your boomboxes high for alFresco filmFesto’s line-up, which includes a Cameron Crowe double feature (Say Anything, Almost Famous) on August 1. The outdoor film festival screenings also include old-school favourites Some Like It Hot (July 25), Stand by Me (August 8), then Feldman it again with <A HREF=”http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0089218/” target=”_blank”The Goonies (August 15) and Moulin Rouge! (August 22). Gore it up and vote for the Clean Nova Scotia Green Cult Classic award at atlanticfilm.com/alfresco. Your choices for this year’s August 29 screening include such environmentally conscious beasts as The Toxic Avenger, Godzilla vs. the Smog Monster, Soylent Green, Empire of the Ants and Creature from the Black Lagoon. Like every year, screenings take place at the Tall Ships Quay, projected on the Electropolis building. Gates open at 8pm, show’s at 9pm, with a $5 donation. Wear your Lloyd Dobler trenchcoat and do some kickboxing to warm up—it gets chilly down there on the water.
