Brendan Dunlop at Finer Thing’s Antiques and Curios, 2797 AgricolaAs an artist, Brendan strives to work towards a multidisciplinary practice that is socially based, thoughtfully critical, accessible, interactive, collaborative and entertaining. His window space installation will transform the window into a miniature geological cross section under a North End construction site.

Michael Fernandes at Vogue Men’s Wear & Tailoring, 2097 GottingenEighteen years ago Michael exhibited a poster, “Blue Angel” for Street Smart Art Show. The work was not well received by merchants on Gottingen St. This time Michael will attempt to work differently. He will perform “Model”, daily, for the duration of the exhibition, he will be at the complete disposal of the hosting merchant.

Sophie Pilipczuk at Murphy’s Laundromat, 6023 North StIn her art practice, Sophie is looking at what defines art and how she can move outside of those traditions while maintaining a creative art practice. Sophie’s interactive installation includes three main bodies: window as wall, table top as guest book, and laundromat as studio/residency. This project is about art in the community and the neighbourhood and it’s people as art.

Selwyn Sharples at Island Greek Donair & Pizza, 2150 Gottingen Selwyn works exclusively with recycled artist materials and found objects, along with musical instruments and a cassette audio recording device. His performances often include unforeseen collaborators. He will be installing a cluster of 9 painted worlds in Island Greek’s window and performing on a cookie tin drum kit outside the business.

This project was facilitated by Brendan Dunlop and other Halifax artists. The pictures will be displayed at the George Dixon Community Centre along with the other selected art projects.
