Glory Glory Man United
Friends of the Seen
(From Here to There Records)
In possession of the best moniker on the Halifax music scene, Glory Glory Man United release their debut EP, Friends of the Seen. This may be off-base, but actually, it approximates what would happen if Q and Not U, circa 1999, covered Thrush Hermit’s Smart Bomb EP. It’s discordant pop with fewer songs about girls, at least directly. Meandering and spacey at times, GGMU never stray too far off the mark in pursuit of ambience. It’s noisy pop that knows how to make the most of its time, foregoing tangents that mire lesser bands. Always at the core of the five tracks is songwriting. Glory Glory Man United offers more than a clever name.
