The motto for Ghettosocks’ newest release, For You Pretty Things, his third studio album, might as well be let’s get weird. The Halifax-based rapper mixes odes to greasy late night gourmet and slow jams about getting sexy in a Burger King bathroom with beats that are half Contra soundtrack, half Odd Future. Ghettosocks brings along a bunch of his friends for the weird trip to the snack counter, with standout track “100 Bars” featuring A Weirder Tour mate Timbuktu and Ghettosocks waxing poetic about the virtues of Teenburgers and Double Downs. Also, there’s a Ghostbusters sample.

You guys need to step your music review game up. Nothing about this album is remotely “Odd future”. There’s absolutely nothing accurate or informative the reader could gain from this blurb(and most other’s). In fact, it would probably be more apt to turn a new listener away from what is in my opinion one of the best local hip-hop efforts in years, by one of the most dedicated talented MC’s Halifax has to offer. Shit sounds like it was “reviewed” by the head of student council in high school.
“Also, there’s a ghostbuster sample” That’s what you close out with? Give credit where its due

I agree with Sam. This album is much better then the review makes it out to be.
I see this is Corey’s first album review, so I’m gonna cut him some slack. Maybe he’s not aware that words like “waxing poetic” are so trife that they come off insulting. I think the Coast dropped the ball here — a more seasoned professional should have been tasked with reviewing this seminal work by one of Halifax’s great local acts.
Big miss on this one Coast.
