Molly Thomason has been blowing up this year, with recognition at Nova Scotia Music Week, the ECMAs and the Canadian Folk Music Awards just to name a few and it’s safe to say that it has a lot to do with the beautifully crafted songs that shine on all her albums. It takes work to make it look that easy, and Thomason helped hone her skills at the Gordie Sampson Songcamp. “I think the biggest thing for me was just becoming comfortable writing with other people, which I never did before the camp,” says Thomason. “If you’re used to writing on your own it’s a really personal thing, and getting comfortable throwing anything out at someone and not getting super emotionally attached right away…I find that really really helpful.” The showcase will bring together Thomason, Carleton Stone and Breagh MacKinnon, all graduates of Songcamp—so you can bet on a night full of singer-songwriter gems and go home happy.
