So Gottingen Street is vibrating with change, including the Bus Stop Theatre, which over the past couple of years has grown into an essential music, theatre, film, dance and visual art space. The building is now for sale, and Lee-Anne Poole, who has been managing it for awhile now, is trying to buy it. The down payment/fees are approximately $90,000 and so far she’s managed to raise about $60,000.
To make that last $30,000 there’s a NO SHOW event this weekend (Friday, November 7 & Saturday, November 8 from 10am to 2am). Tickets are $100, $50 and PWYC. Oh, and there’s NO SHOW, so you don’t even have to stick around if you like hate arts or whatever. And you know if won’t be sold out. Because there’s NO SHOW. Just a chance to help save a theatre space. To get hold of Poole, email thebusstop@live.com or call 449-5317. If the sale doesn’t happen your ticket purchase will either be refunded to you or be donated to local non-profit arts organizations.
