As I’m going through the hundreds of photographs I shot this weekend, I realize there are quite a few that don’t involve the musicians on stage. For a festival like the Halifax Pop Explosion to be successful, you need a lot of people to come together and play their own important behind the scenes roles.
People like the bar staff and servers, the guy making pizzas for hungry patrons at the Marquee (see photo in previous entry), the sound technicians, the festival organizers, the volunteers, the coat check staff, the drivers and, of course, the fans who buy tickets, show up and have a good time. I hope my experience this weekend was not unique–I had a freakishly good time, with absolutely no hassle from security, no long wait times for a drink (non-alcoholic), no problems whatsoever.
So cheers to all of you who took part in some way. You guys are awesome. I wish I could post photos of everyone who helped out. Instead, I’ll just post a few of the good people I managed to capture this weekend as a tribute to the rest.
