Ever wonder what happened to the American Pie characters after the second sequel in 2003? Me neither. Still, here are Jim (Jason Biggs), Michelle (Alyson Hannigan), Stifler (Seann William Scott), Kevin (Thomas Ian Nicholas), Finch (Eddie Kaye Thomas) and a familiar crew of supporting characters, cramming the unwanted answers into multiplexes. The gang, now into their adult-contemporary years, unites 13 springs after graduation and discovers that sexless marriages and professional disappointment have replaced getting laid on their list of high-priority problems. But the characters haven’t really evolved and the same qualities that made them endearing in the first film are just irritating here. The same goes for the flaccid gross-out gags. American Reunion is a movie about—and about as lame as—30-ish guys trying to recapture their high school glory.
