I’m not celebrating International Women’s Day, simply because in an equitable society, we should not need a day to call our own. By talking about women as less than equal, we are in some ways, treating ourselves as less than equal and therefore reinforcing the societal view that women are less than equal through the discourse itself.
A lot of the language used in the posts just reinforces hegemonic masculinity: “RAH RAH OPPRESSED WOMEN”…”STILL STRUGGLING TO HAVE MY VOICE HEARD IN A MAN’S WORLD”.
Furthermore, what about people whose gender identity does not fall into one of the two socially ascribed categories?
International Gender Equality Day. This would make a lot more sense. —Not feminist/Not anti-feminist

So, if I understand you correctly, a world in which strong and confident women stand hand in hand with men, will benefit us all.
I concur.

Men will never be equal to women. Women are so superior and we’d have to give you such a handicap, the competition wouldn’t even be worth it. Unless it involves writing your name in the snow with pee, us ladies own your sorry asses!
LOL – Taint – You split-tails can’t even take back the night. Hell, you can’t even deal with a left-up toilet seat without without a month of tears and eleventy dozen pints of Haagen-Dasz. Good luck running the world.
Umm I like women!
It’s a man’s world toots. Always has been, always will be.
Yours truly.
I heard that Fuckbook now has in excess of 50 types of gender? If this is true, we could have a weekly International Whatever Day?
uh yeah, whatever.
You don’t get the blue shell if you’re already in first place, homie.
Too bad “women” and “feminism” are still dirty words. Still lots of work to be done.
