My Mom was recently assaulted at work by a customer/member. He came up behind her, unprovoked, grabbed her by the shoulder and violently shook her, injuring her. You would think that her long time employer would stand by her, right? NOPE! They are staying out of it. Going so far as telling employees they are not aloud to discuss it. They have not even revoked this guys membership, have not banned him from the store or the property. He is still allowed, and has since this happened, gone into the big concrete store where my Mom works. Thankfully she was not there. My Moms employer is trying to sweep this under the rug. Much like other assaults by members to employees. They clearly do not value their employees. They do not provide a safe working environment for their employees. How can they expect someone to return to work knowing the person who assaulted them can come back and do so again? Where are they when their employees need them??

Then to make matters worse, the police said they had more then enough evidence to press charges (my Moms statement and injuries, 2 other members who saw the assault and left their contact info for the police because they WANTED to give a statement, and multiple other employees who witnessed it) all of a sudden changed their tune saying they didn’t feel comfortable pressing charges under the circumstances, which is that the guy has no record. So there you go Halifax. No criminal record? Bad day?? GO ASSAULT SOMEONE! —Fed up Haligolian

  1. I didn’t know it was a snow day. When you get to grade nine life will be better (and your spelling will improve).

You are not really a Haligolian either. Are you?

  2. What More said. Why does your Mom have to wait for Costco to take action? She can press charges herself and if her employer interferes, they will getting themselves in a bad legal situation. Who is this guy anyway? Majority shareholder?

  3. so what if he doesnt have a criminal record, if he keeps getting this kind of treatment he never will have a record even if he does this a thousand times. thats nuts.

  4. i read that mom WAS willing to the charges but the police changed their minds and decided to not go ahead with it. she can’t just do it herself (except as a personal suit)

thats part of the problem. her employer wouldn’t take away the guys membership, and the kicker was that the police wouldn’t charge him.

an individual can’t just ‘press charges’ on their own. can you imagine?

  5. Is this dude a human paint shaker???
Or how fragile is your mom?

I’m not saying it’s right in the least… I’m saying that is one fucked up way to get hurt at the co of costs. I’d have thought he knocked a pallet of safes off a shelf or something…

Anyhoo, time to go assault someone …

  6. Screw the BBB — this in an OH&S issue so contact the department of labour and advanced education. You NEED to report this to the OH&S division NOW. If appropriate steps are not taken to provide a safe working environment for you mother, this business CAN be fined through the administrative penalties act (which has just been overhauled). There is actual legislation in the provincial OH&S act that provides for a SAFE working environment — free from both physical and psychological harm.

You can report this workplace (anonymously if desired) by calling: 1-800-952-2687 or by emailing ohsdivision@gov.ns.ca.

You can also contact the Minister of Labour and Advanced Education (the minister responsible for OH&S), Kelly Regan by calling: 424-6647 or by email at MIN_LAE@gov.ns.ca.

I REALLY encourage your mom to report this to both the OH&S division and the minister’s office. Nothing will change and this will keep happening if they aren’t held accountable.

Please note that it takes a while to get a response from the Minister’s office just due to sheer volume of correspondence coming in and the fact that this usually will go to several executive-level managers who should be concerned about your issue.

Also, isn’t this employer interfering in a criminal investigation by blatantly intimidating these employees to not press charges? Maybe something the labour board (also under Labour and Advanced Education) should be looking into.

Good luck, OB, to you and your mom. No one deserves to feel unsafe in their work environment — especially since it’s ILLEGAL in this province and employers can be held accountable (and in come cases, violations to the OH&S act can result in criminal charges and jail time for negligent managers.)

  7. We should go back to “Why did this happen in the first place?” I bet if you were to dig a little deeper (ask your mom straight out)… “Did you refuse to do a little ass to mouth for him at work during lunch break mom?” Cause I for one, am willing to wager that your mom will deny that it had to do with ATM. (A sure sign that it was her prudish refusal what instigated this problem of assault) Not that she doesn’t do Ass to Mouth… cause your mom does… don’t let her fool ya… that’s where you came from. You were shot in the wrong hole. Knocked her up it did. This is just a case of “I don’t want everybody to know the truth that I love to take man meat in the bum and then the mouth… especially a throbbing uncircumcised member! ooooooohh giggle giggle” Nobody at the office wanted to get involved because they WANT to do a little ATM or they may have a dream to do it at least once. Why would your mom spoil that for her co workers? If word got out… management would be banning ass to mouth during lunch, coffee breaks, or underground parking lot hook ups after or before work. She needs to just bend over… take it in the back door then have the slimy (possible bonus of a kernel of corn stuck in the pee hole, or little piece of poop around the rim) penis sloshed into her puckered bum and toothless gob repeatedly till the giver drops a load on her face, in her mouth, in her ass… or anywhere on her body between the above mentioned orifices. That’s my medical opinion. No need to thank me. Pay it forward!
