“Heart of oak are our ships, heart of oak are our men;
We always are ready, steady, boys, steady!
We’ll fight and we’ll conquer again and again.”
Happy 100th folks. You’ve helped make Halifax what it is and you are definitely one of the cooler things about this town.
Thank You All. —Admiral Ivan

nice one colonel…me pa and meself we just speaking of that this morn. let go the lines
The father of the gent I work for passed away last year. He served in the RN in WW 2. I’m sorry I never met him. I love talking with vets. Greatest Generation – Damn Straight! Rawk, Proud Rawk
you’re making me weepy ivan. i love talking with vets too and i adore my dad tho he was 12 when the war ended. my father-in-law served in italy and came back forever changed but he shared a few stories. he died before my son was born but we have his medals on the wall and my son knows all about him…melancholy rawk
You, The Bear and the Boy are very privileged to have that connection. My Gram’s second husband served in Italy and Holland with the Carleton & Yorks. Sad,Humble, Appreciative Rawk.
the boy’s granpappy served in the Vandoos…there be corbies everywhere this evening
Ici aussi. Lately I’ve been cutting SOBova’s rough red vino with some orangina and pouring it over ice for a lazy bastard’s sangria. There is nothing more relaxing than sitting out on the balcony in the evening with a cold beverage, watching lazy contrails trace their way across an azure sky, seeing the corbies placidly grazing on the new mown lawns and hearing the distant sound of random gunfire from far-off Highfield.
As good as it gets. Satisfied Rawk.
Is this about the Fleet Review coming to town?
yes sweet snappy mind…it’s the 100th anniversary of our navy
I know it’s the Navy’s Birthday… I’m volunteering at the bar next week :p
what bar? i’ll come visit…i promise to be a good girl. rawk
I make no such promises but I’ll be there too.
“We’ll shurfash off their largest shitties and lishen to their Rock and Roll, While we conduct misshile drillzh. Comradezh , We shail into hishtory!”
I just hope our boy Lifer doesn’t decide to resurrect that other old Naval Tradition – The Press Gang. Lock up your daughters ( your MILFs too.)
Bar?? Yes?? Time/place, please! I didn’t know there was drinking location for this event. 🙂 I’m looking forward to the weekend – hopefully it’ll be nice and busy on the waterfront. That’s always fun!
I’m pretty sure the bar is for Military people and their families only…
But if you do have DND or military ID you can get in

I won’t be there while it’s open to the public though :p
I get to serve the sailors
Brilliant! Spassibo Snap. Just looking throught the list of visiting ships has got me salivating. Back in ’85, for the 75th Anniversary I spent 3 days down at Stad touring ships. Hella Kule.
i was in the army cadets but i don’t have my kilt and spats any more. my pa is drooling as well ivan…don’t know what i will get to see, working working working
I would volunteer there too….
only I’d volunteer to reduce their inventory.
I plan on helping with the reduction of inventory when I’m not on shift.
Thanks for the link – lotsa great info!
haha, excuse me officer i am with the official fleet week inventory control team…just sign here
when clicking on map, the description of the pub doesn’t state “with ID unless otherwise stated” …
perhaps it’s open to anyone. I dunno…
I can’t make it regardless….
It’s open to the public from noon-6PM afterwards I think it’s military only
