The office in general, and the desk/cubby assigned to you is not your home, or personal property. It is not meant to be a shrine of personal nicknacks, photos, dirty dishes, stacks of old newspapers, piles of dis-guarded shoes/clothes and god knows what else. I’m not against having a gym bag tucked under your desk and a few photos of your kids/dog/lover tacked up or in frames, but there is a definite line between personalizing and making your desk your second home. Every day I have to walk clients past your sad mess of space and I can only imagine what they are thinking. I know what I am thinking “What a unprofessional atmosphere. That person is a slob, disorganized and probably lazy…I wouldn’t want them handling my business.” I’m guessing they are thinking along the same lines, so clean up your act, leave your personal shit at home and try to make a better impression on the unfortunate souls that have to walk by your garbage heap of a desk. —Leave Home at Home

  1. Ummmm, cum see my desk …… you can’t even see it for the paperwork and binders. However, they keep me here because I am the most organized and professional person on the PLANET.

The items within these piles are actionable and I can provide the status of each and every one of them without having to rifle through the crap.

When the file is closed it gets a home in my ever so neat filing cabinet but until then it stays at my fingertips!

Fuck you if you don’t like it.

  2. ah yeah, the desk is theirs as long as they work there. if you don’t want shit on yours, that’s your business. but the other people have all the right in the world to put whatever the fuck they want on theirs, excepting maybe pornographic nature.

  3. “Larry. Hiiiii…. Sooooooo…ummm, yyyeahhhh, I’m gonna need you to organize your desk a little better; tidy up, if you will, okaayy? Yeeeeahhhh, if you could go ahead and just get rid of the clutter, dirty dishes, mis-matched footwear and spray a little Febreeze, that’d be great, okaaayy?Thanksssss.

  4. I’d also like to point out that the mobile version of this site is Leaps and Bounds better than the old one I was being tortured with.
    Thanks denizen interweb code monkeys!
    You’re doing good…
Extra banana’s for you under the tree this xmas.

  5. So what if the desk is cluttered? As long as the person in question can function and do the job. What is it with neat freaks? They are like born-again Christians and have to convert everybody to their values. You never see a slob trying to show them how to leave papers lying around and where concentric coffee mug rings would really accent the desk nicely. But the other way around? Constantly.
Keep your organizational fetish to yourself, you bleeding Nazis!
