In two steps, Nova Scotia is raising minimum wage by 1.2%. Also in one step and sooner, they are raising the HST by 2%. This means that the NDP have decided that before any inflation is counted in, the poorest people in the province will have there standard of life reduced by .8%. This was decided because it was thought that changing income tax (which the poor are reimbursed for), would put too much of a burden on management and the business class. since when did NDP mean Tory?

Obviously businesses are going to have to raise prices to help cover the HST increase they pay, So i know Inflation is going to happen from this as well. I’m Fucking glad that as a student I can be the one to take the brunt of the rising infrastructure costs.—Kaleidoscope eyes

  1. And Steele actually went on tape saying many NS’ers were willing to pay the increase if it meant helping…
    .
    .
ROFL did he get that from the lock-down ward at the NS???

  2. No from the padded cell area. I don’t know about anyone else but I fucking pay more than enough taxes as it is. They asked me about a tax hike. But then I never knew a Dipper that didn’t like more taxes. All increasing minimum wage does is to raise prices to cover the increased wages.

  3. How the hell else is the NDP supposed to dig this province out of the hole that Rodney put it in? Selling lobster out of the back of a truck?

  4. they are only putting the tax back the way it was before. 2 lousy% isn’t gonna kill anyone, didn’t before, did it? don’t like it here, well you can always move to someplace else, where everything is a lot more expensive. england comes to mind, with gas selling at about 10 bucks a gallon right now.

  5. “How could the NDP dig us out”
How about stop giving money to a HUGE Family owned grocery store chain…everytime I turn around it seems they’re getting another couple of million for this or that upgrade…PAY FOR IT THEMSELVES ! THEY’RE BILLIONAIRS.
Stop giving millions of dollars to large World wide Defence Companies that have set up a shop in Canada (they start with a letter L ) which then charge us billions for their products
Stop handing millions of dollars to a New Brunswick Family owned business so they can then collect BILLIONS OF DOLLARS from tax payers to fix & build our naval ships ! The founder long ago moved his companies books offshore to reap added tax bonuses…so why if he pays little tax on profits, why are we supporting them with our TAX DOLLARS ? ? ?

There are 3 ways to save MILLIONS of dollars each year.

Another might be to keep companies like EMRA from being mandated by government decree that they have a MAGICAL GOVERNMENT GIVEN RIGHT to take so many MILLIONS OF DOLLARS PROFIT OUT OF NOVA SCOTIA each year & instead TAX EVERY CENT THEY TAKE OUT by 5 cents & see how much they want to remove !

Youi want more Ideas ? ? ? let me see the real books we never get anywhere near !

  6. more, old son, we have a decent living place in n.s., but it has been fucked over countless times in the past. the only real way for us to get out of this pit that we are in, is to not build new libreies, schools, or even hospitals. the last maybe great ideas, but where is the staff to run them or help us out.cut down on salaries to mla’s, backbenchers and the rest of the trough feeders. then take a huge chunk of cash, that is given to places around the world, that don’t give a flying fuck about us. cut back on immigration dollars, and deffinately get rid of things like the ,a.g., g.g., and and figurehead players that serve no real use in government. that should be about 90% right there. there are also monies given out to huge faceless corps., that all go stateside or like you said, offshore. and then there is the fuel thing, use what we have here, break it down here, instead of shipping it out cheap, and buying back at 5 times what it went out for.this country is on the road to being fucked more, every day.

  7. Life Sucks…they just gave 400 MILLION of our Tax Dollars to Haiti, yet a Nova Scotia woman had to fight the Government to help her pay for her medical marijuanna !

THe Government IMO at all levels have completely lost sight of what they should be doing. Who should come first & the fact they work for us & not we work for them.

Unless this type of thinking can be turned around, the tax payers of this country will continue to be led by knee jerk politician reactions & what is right & truely good for Canadians will be overlooked more often than not ! THere’s way to much of a political attitude of do good for the group,& to fuck with the individual…because they’ve lost sight of the fact a group is made up of individuals !

This Province is facing a 30 million dollar short fall.
If the Federal Governmetn had given 30 million of that 400 million to each Province to help them out, we would be over that problem, & I’m willing to bet not one other Province or territory couldn’t also use another 30 million.
I’m sorry to hear about Haiti & I’m glad we’ve helped out already, but we should be taking care of our own people with our tax money, BEFORE we take care of ANYONE ELSE In My Opinion !

  8. Well you should join a union. They are getting 5-6% raises. Who knew that an NDP government would kiss the union’s butts? Apparently not the majority of suckers who voted for Dexter!

  9. really op… that is only accurate if you spend every penny of every paycheque you get on everything that is taxed.

but still, I doubt anyone willingly agreed to this.
It was on the other thread I read… and agree with somewhat…
“We’re going to raise taxes… period. Where would you like to see them raised?”
well what other choice do you have really….

  10. 2% increase in HST is bad news…..That would make it the highest sales tax in the country (except PEI).

  11. 10 cents * 40 hours a week = enough to buy a mickey of whatever spirit suits your fancy..

  12. BMF… I cannot really tell what your point is most times…
though I do know you part time as a chinavasion rep.
    they have good stuff…
thinking of getting a pen camcorder for ‘dropping’ on occasion

  13. “”BMF… I cannot really tell what your point is most times…””

Well, that makes two of us…but here, the OP cites a “1.2%” increase in the minimum wage.

Now, I’m not home to watch the local news, but my understanding is that the wage is going from $8.60 to $9.20.

Clearly, this is more than 1.2%….more like about 7%, which complete refutes the OP and all the dumb comments following it…

    Does that help, zZz?

  14. Not only pen cams, but watch cams (excellent!) and the cell phone jammer that you mentioned the other day, for about $30, although it’s use in Canada is limited to jamming your own signal, or as a “gag” while on private property…

In fact, better check it out, even possesion may be “outlawed” under this gov’t…
