okay, i’m sick and tired of the lack of decent shoe stores for guys in this town. i’m forever looking and looking, and all i find in a decent guys shoe is either a skate sneaker, a combat boot, or something that looks like perez hilton shat out and spray painted. i mean really, why is it so much to ask for a nice adult male shoe?

Hella ya. Sizing is also a problem around here. I only ever find non-fat american sizing at The Gap and Banana Republic. D2 has (some) cool stuff but their sizing is also facked.

Online is definitely the way to go. It’s damned near impossible for me to find shoes around here that fit. Having a size 13 foot with a double E width is a curse I could do without.

Yes, and finding XS-S clothing, whether it be inexpensive or not. I’ve used zappos to buy cool shoes from the Kenneth Cole Reaction collection, check ’em out as well.
I got a kick out of the doorman wearing wal-mart shoes that wouldn’t let my friend in for wearing Gucci sandals.
Anton, you know better than that. Your friend was prohibited for wearing sandals. The fact that they were Gucci does not permit him automatic entry. That you thought that a Walmart shopper should bow down and bend the rules before a Gucci wearer indicates that you are a snob. The Gucci-clad foot is no more hygienic than a Walmart-clad foot. By the way, you can buy Gucci at Value Village.
It was more a case of him being a dick. His major qualm, as he said, was that it was an upscale place – of course, any girl wearing sandals that would bat their eyelashes at him would be let right in. Also, I doubt I’ll ever recover from your Hannibal Lecter-esque dismantling of my pompous facade.
Anton, I am pretty sure that the doorman was following a dress code that stated men’s sandals were not acceptable (for whatever reason). That you made note of the doorman’s cheaper brand of shoe shifted the focus from the shoes to the people themselves. I was questioning why you ‘got a kick’ out of the fact that it was a Walmart shopper (as opposed to a Gucci shopper) who was enforcing the rules. It interesting that dress codes will allow women’s sandals but not men’s, though. As for the Hannibal thing, I have no desire to eat your ‘liver with some fava beans and a nice chianti’–not today, anyway. = )
I doubt it even happened. The kid just opens the door. Its not like he’s a bouncer or anything. If anybody would say anything, it’d be one of the sales guys on the floor, and I doubt that they would.

Christ, there are about 20 different shoe stores throughout the HRM catering to all walks of life. Yeah, every store offers the skater, eurotrash and army boot styles, but they also offer classic shoe styles as well. My 2 cents

i have long duck type feet and unless i want to shell out muchos money i order from ll bean…but i’m talking about shoes you can walk, ride , drive in not come fuck me pumps…they hurt me bunions
there’s a bit of a selection @ the mall… I just got a couple pairs from a spring-y place pretty cheap.
There’s always a place to pay_less there as well, and some guy named mark and his warehouse across the street. some shoe company in bayers also has plenty of footware though they’re a little pricier.
if you’re looking for odd sized or extra wide, etc.. there’s that shoe place @ bayers and robie where I know they can get you pretty much anything for odd sized/shaped feet.
I have to wear orthotics due to years of abuse to my back… there are only a few brands that cater to my requirements, however I don’t have ANY problem finding great shoes…
Try Dack’s… the mall across the pedway from Scotia Square… name escapes me right now…
Also, if it’s GOOD workboots you need try either Uniform Works or The Toolbox (not the gay bar) in downtown Burnside… 🙂 I’m sure there are others..
