so the people who live in my building have a 6 year old pitbull they are starving to death, it is nothing but a skeleton with some very sick skin streached over her brittle frame, they refuse to let her outside or get any fresh air in fear someone will see and try to help the dog, it is the worse case of neglect i have ever seen, they also have a kitten that is so infested with fleas she can not open her eyes, i found her covered in blood and going into shock, she was scratchign at my door,
they called the cops on my accused me of stealing their cat, the cops came, said sorry because they are animal lovers too,and gave them the kitten back, they checked out the dog and said the spca will be coming in the morning, when the spca came they looked at the dog, and said there wasnt enough evidence that would allow removing the dog. i think the spca is a worthless company who only profits from animals (200$ to adopt a puppy from the dartmouth spca) they no longer have the pet population program and they do nothing for starving abused animals,
who is fightning for the animals whos sole purpose in life is to be a decoration in the corner of a shit filled apartment, what happens to an animal who has no quality of life and no one “in the postion” to do anything,
i was told to call the spca everyday i dont see the dog oustide at all, to try to take pictures and audio of the dog, well thats alittle hard when shes not aloud out, and what will a call a day do when cops and animals control saw the dog and did nothing already, (if you saw this animal you would shed a tear)
and as a dog owner, who takes great pride in the care of her animal, is one to say, all my dog expects from my is a walk, good snuggle and a hearty meal. EVERYDAY

  1. I think it’s great you’re looking out for the animals, and it makes me sick to think there are people who would neglect pets. But if you think the SPCA is profiting from dog adoptions, you are sadly mistaken. The cost of taking in a an animal – especially one that is sick, neglected and/or has behavioural issues – is far more than you’d expect. The SPCA do the best they can, and I hope your evidence helps them so they’ll eventually be able to confiscate the dog.

  2. Keep calling. Everyday. If that doesn’t work call your local mla or the news. If you really care that much then do whatever it takes but don’t give up.

People who abuse animals make me sick.

  3. Why don’t you check this site out and give them a call?

    http://www.halifax.ca/AnimalControl/index.…

You said that there was a point the kitten was scratching at your door? Take her in next time,(I know easier said than done) keep her there and call the cops or SPCA again (same with the dog) Insist they have another investigation done. Since animals can’t speak for themselves animal lovers must do it for them, especially in a case like this.

  4. “i think the spca is a worthless company who only profits from animals (200$ to adopt a puppy from the dartmouth spca) ” Which includes how much in medical costs that you don’t have to put up for? Keep calling, but don’t shit on the SPCA for not living up to the pedestal you put them on.

  5. If you want I’ll help you make posters to put up around the neighborhood informing people that animals abusers live nearby. These people should be shamed and shunned and have rotten fruit thrown at them in the streets.

  6. That’s the best you can do? Bitch about my imperfect grammar on the internet? bahaha. Whatever dude. I get emotional when I hear about animals being tortured to death by subhuman owners, so please FORGIVE for offending the almighty grammar gods.. of which Tim is Zeus!

  7. For real though, don’t try once then give up and bitch about it. Do something. There’s lots more you can do if you feel the spca isn’t doing enough.

  8. Apparently someone didn’t watch enough Price is Right, or at least didn’t watch it the whole way through to the end where Bob Barker would always remind us to help control the pet population by having our pets spayed or neutered. That could have prevented this tragedy.

I also heard that the SPCA is reporting a large increase in kittens abandoned at their shelters. Bob Barker stopped hosting the Price is Right only two years ago. Coincidence? I think not.

  9. Q, Drew Carey still says that at the end of the show, but he’s no Bob Barker. Now, who are we tossing rotten food at? I have a head of lettuce that’s getting mighty dry.

  10. not sure if it is allowed but put there address in here and I will also start calling the spca. People like this make me sick. I was very happy to hear that you did something other than come on here and post it like most people in the city, hats off to you.

  11. it really is a no win situation…the abusers of the animals are not going to be safe to deal with and unless that dog bites someone not much will be done but i have dealt with shite like this for decades…so if you run into any trouble let me know…kudos to you for givin a good godamn

  12. My former wife and I rescued a number of stray cats and kittens over the years we were together, at our own expense. Interestingly enough the HRM council is fighting to make people license cats at a huge expense, but when it comes to helping stray cats we’re told there is no legal reason to support stray cats, but for dogs only, interesting, eh?
