Why does someone who supports local, buys organic products, cares about the environment, and smokes pot occasionally termed a “hipster”, “eco-hipster”, “hippie”, [input others]? Can’t a regular Joe care about the same things without risking such a title? —Joe

Input obliged – “Pretentious Douchebags”, “Anarchist Scum”, “Useless Feeders”, “Proglodytes” – I got a million of ’em.
Regular Joes do these things as well. They just don’t fool themselves into thinking it’s something of vital importance to the planet.

Yes, I and many people like me are doing just that. We just don’t make a big deal of it.
