Stop trying to start a love story with every good person who treats you with respect. We’ve gotten so ugly and rude that chivalry is foreign, politeness is considered flirting, and being good to people is interpreted as a possible soul mate. The bare minimum for love is nothing now. —Pierre of Hearts <3

Ilsa has been at it again…
Hing, Paingirl, Klyde, Babyshambles, H0!$T, NO_FOOL, Gooddog Molly, Crispy… I hope the grave is big enough…
^^^ makes for a sparse team. The bench is getting very thin. Hopefully the spring draft will bring new players into the league.
Are good natured commenters like Crispy, Klyde and especially Paingirl – who generally don’t get into shit-throwing contests and never get dirty or personal – that much of a threat?
Are commenters like Good Dog Molly, who has strong opinions but always defends them with logic and reason that much of an impediment to a social justice agenda? Are inveterate chain yankers and larkers like Hing Frogg, Babyshambles ,Ivan, and yes, even Faux Mule a detriment to this site, or do they contribute to the liveliness and humour that keeps people coming back despite the endless repetitive litany of complaints about dog shit, car drivers, cyclists, guys who won’t eat bush, girlfriends who would rather…ad nauseum, ad infinitum.
C’mon Mod – you can have order, or you can have fun.
Don’t cut off your nose to spite your face.
IS THERE A CONTRAST HERE?
“We’ve gotten so ugly and rude that chivalry is foreign, politeness is considered flirting, and being good to people is interpreted as a possible soul mate.” Pierre of Hearts
One can only feel sorry for Pierre if he takes his assertion to be an empirical claim, a general truth about the world. In that case he should just change friends. But more interestingly, does the assertion embody a contrast in respect to which adversarial philosophical positions might be adopted? I would argue not, that in fact true love, to be such, pre-supposes precisely that which Pierre claims has been lost. In other words, true love pre-supposes, if not chivalry, at least civility which consists of politeness and being good to people. Case closed.
A pleasure as always,
Cheerio!
Speaking of civility, the recent flurry of activity on this board got me to wondering why the Coast bothers to host LTWWB.
In that regard, I would point out that the contributors to this site are, in effect, providing free content to the Coast. Case in point, how much would montrealman (our resident doctorate holder) charge the Coast for his philosophical analyses of bitches were he to be paid for his contributions?
In fact, amongst the barbs, insults and immature ramblings, is a body of insight and analysis that rivals the Coast’s paid content. The viewpoints of the contributor, with their varying personal intellects, backgrounds and education, provides an interesting and balanced cross-section of opinion. It’s what keeps people coming back to the site and may be the Coast’s biggest on-line draw.
Anyway, something for all to consider.
I’m still here for now. But I blame the patriarchy for that.
I think we should just end all forms of oral communication. Make it so you have to open your phone to strangers in order to have a conversation through text. Maybe they can have an app made so all you have to do is bump phones and you can now converse. Problem solved!!
Oh my lord, what’d I miss?
Not sure exactly why but the Moderator went on a banning spree.
I tried piecing it together but alas, the required comments have been deleted.
I just hope the bullying didn’t get too serious again 🙂
All I can tell you, Nuk, is that if your last name is Sonofabitch, you’re probably going to get banned.
*coughs*
*looks at ground*
Well, I got better.

Another excellent point – the first today being the International Labia Tour and possible publication of its findings – which requires reflection on a number of levels including, but not limited to, the economic.
For example, my insightful critiques of the editorials in the Montreal Gazette have met with a stony response from the letters editor who may, of course, be identical with the editorial writer himself which might explain things. However, I did recently manage to eviscerate two letter writers at one blow who wrote on the same topic so there was satisfactory success there. Only this morning a much weaker letter appeared on the same topic which fuelled my latest broadside at the editor. Indeed, my letter anticipated the grounds upon which the weaker letter rested so my “success” was tangential if nothing else.
Speaking of success, did I mention that a piece of mine will be appearing in the April edition of “Educational Theory,” a scholarly journal put out by the University of Illinois? I have, of course, written for a number of such journals published by learned societies and universities in Britain, the US and Canada but this is the first time I have managed to brag myself up on Bitch. Thanks for the opportunity.

How much would you be willing to pay me, Willard? For you I don’t come cheap.
A pleasure as always,
Cheerio!
Welcome back Nukka.

I’m banned? Aww damn!
Too true OP, some people you have to keep at arm’s length. Being friendly and/or personable will be taken the wrong way.
MM, in all sincerity I am glad for your publishing success.
But you might want to be a wee bit careful about revealing too much “traceable reality” to your posts. You should fudge a bit on the details here and there, because even though you may feel you “know” all the good folks who post here, you just have to be careful about how much identifying info that you have floating around on a public forum like this.
