Why aren’t smokers fined for littering? Do we think that tossing butts onto the sidewalk or street is ok and isn’t trash? These people have to be penalized . We have two downtown Barrington offices and we can’t have our clients wading through this kind of filth on a Monday morning. It’s making our city look even more dirty. I feel my lungs are a lot cleaner now but I can’t believe there’s not butt stops or ashtrays outside of bars and places people light up. Maybe the city should invest ashtrays. And until then, give me a break people and pick up your trash or be fined!!!

i have always wondered about this.Nothing worse than seeing a designated smoking area, and seeing a billion butts on the ground. Smokers would never do that shit indoors, why do they do that outdoors? Even worse, why do they do that in designated smoking areas…… that 9/10 times have a recepticle just for this purpose?
Smokers used to do this a LOT in bars and clubs…
even worse in bars, (more so nightclubs), the ones that put the butts in beer bottles, and leave them on the tables or ledges, and when people put thier own drinks down, to light up…. they run the risk of picking up someone else’s cig littered bottle and chuggin that. I mean usually you are already intoxicated at these places, so a tiny little slip isnt unheard of
i am a smoker and if their were more “butt outs” in places such as bus stops this wouldnt be a problem
