  1. I concur Sasha, let’s face it how can my car be in the way of the plows when they never come out to clear my street anyway?

  2. If you weren’t CFA, you’d know that it doesn’t always “lasts only 2 days”. Plow drivers have enough to worry about without having to avoid your car on narrow residential streets(I’m sure you’d bitch some damn loud if they took the whole side off), and wtf are they going to do? Sneak out when all the cars have moved and plow all the streets again for the piles of shit left under and between? I really want more of our tax money blown just because you’re too lazy to get your wheels off the street.

  3. The city experimented with a limited parking ban, where parking was allowed on the street unless there was an actual snowstorm. Guess what? Many people couldn’t be bothered to move their cars on those three or four days a month when it was neccessary. You have them to thank for the blanket parking ban.

  4. I had to dig out several feet of snow because of downtown-working assholes parking on my street. If you need a parking spot, go and rent one.

  5. …and to all those lazy fucks in Cowie Hill whose parking is provided yet STILL insist on parking on the streets 10 feet away from your front door…next snow storm I’m calling the fucking parking Nazi’s. The streets are barely wide enough on a clear day let alone with a few inches of snow, you people are the first ones to bitch the streets are not plowed, but how can they be if there isn’t enough room for the damn snow plows?

  6. this is the stupidest bitch I’ve ever read — even dumber than that bitch where that guy was complaining about the chick who was sucking him off’s bf called. FUCK.Obviously common sense isn’t a pre requisite to be a “CFA”. Have you ever even SEEN a snow plow? …not the brightest crayon in the box are we, OP? GG

  7. When HRM caves to the OP and allows parking on the street during snowstorms, the OP and others like them will then complain that they have to dig their own cars out of the snow which has been pushed aside by the plow. Because the snow sure as hell isn’t going to go THROUGH the cars somehow and onto the curb. It’ll be really great if they don’t use their cars for a few days and by then the snow around their car will have hardened into a rock-like mass. But at least their car will still be conveniently out on the street.

  8. Why should anyone give a shit that the OP is a CFA? Is that supposed to add credibility to what they’ve written, because it doesn’t, it just makes it sound (more) foolish.

  9. Nick I thought that all the OP meant by pointing out that he was a CFA was that we get very little snow compared to wherever he is from…I’m sure kay will be pleased at the xenophobia emerging in these comments, as it will confirm what everyone gets so mad at her for saying.

  10. Last I checked a CFA is a Chartered Financial Analyst, which has nothing to do with snowfall or parking your car on the street. I have nothing against CFAs, I just suspected that the OP was using their title as a CFA to lend credibility to his comment. I was not being xenophobic.

  11. Last I checked a CFA is a Chartered Financial Analyst, which has nothing to do with snowfall or parking your car on the street. I have nothing against CFAs, I just suspected that the OP was using their title as a CFA to lend credibility to their comment. I was not being xenophobic.

  12. Hahaha, Nick, that rocks! Now I understand your disdain.CFA is also used on this board as shorthand for “come-from-away”, meaning someone from another city presumably in Western Canada where, incidentally, winters are harsher than ours. Hence the OP’s puzzlement at our strict reaction to winter conditions…

  13. And the xenophobia part was referring to the fact that people on this board tend to enjoy ripping CFAs with opinions about our fine region to absolute shreds. It’s very predictable – “we don’t take kindly to your type round here….”

  14. last I checked CFA meant certified financial analyst/accountant as well. In fact, CFA= certified financial analyst/accountant = pretty fucking common (more so than this “come from away” bullshit. but really, who cares if this person comes from away? It does nothing to further the intelligence of their dumbass bitch).I still think this bitch is the stupidest thing I’ve ever read. OP should get their head out of their ass.

  15. Jammie- I know in Calgary they don’t plow residential streets for the entire winter(I still want to know how the hell that one works). Maybe they do the same thing in other cities out west. And thinking about it, the first snowstorm we had, it stayed for way more than two friggin’ days.

  16. Pretty kitty must be in heat, cuz she is crrrraaaaaaaannnnnnnnky! LOLI’m not sure what’s so “stupid” about wondering why you aren’t allowed to park on a street that has no snow on it. The OP was just comparing what happens here to what happens in other cities, and wondering why we’re so much more strict.I’m not saying I agree – it can snow any time overnight – but it’s a perfectly valid question in a city full of rather over-the-top nanny state bylaws.

  17. common sense would dictate that perhaps it could snow without warning. I’m sure those stuck on the cobequid pass last month fully expected the amount of snow we got *eyeroll*Like someone else mentioned: OP would likely be the first to bitch if her car was fucked up by a plow, and first to bitch if the streets weren’t plowed because the plow couldn’t get around her POS car.just sayin’ *wink*

  18. The people who don’t care about this ban are the people who have driveways, or no car, it’s that simple. It’s embarrassing to read many of your responses. This is an absolute embarrassment of a rule to put in place. A coastal city such as Halifax will see 3 maybe 4 snow days that warrant the ban, the other 90 days will be a pure cash grab by greedy government officials who want to pocket in money in another form rather then taxes. Im appalled at the people who care so little about the low income families who can not afford a nice home with a drive way to park in and have to use street parking in order to survive the winter. Many of these people are in leases that will not allow them to leave, they have no choice and have to quickly figure out what do with their cars, and how to get their children to where they need to be without one.Their is absolutely zero reason why the ban can not be enforced only on nights it snows. That is a reasonable middle ground, but will not go through because, again, this is a cash grab to take the pennies out students and low income families pockets… but they don’t matter right? They hardly vote, so as long as the yuppies and the south end rich kids have their side walks cleared everything is good to go.

  19. Headliner — if you can’t afford to take care of your car (including finding a lawful place to park it) you can’t afford a car in the first place. Your point is a load of horse shit. Despite all the bitches on here, there’s an excellent public transit system in this city for all to use. Cars are expensive; public transit is not (and generally gets you from point a to any point b in greater HRM).
