the most awful thing to happen was when they took down the capitol theatre it was a most beautiful building on the inside ,the city just keeps letting the most beautiful old buildings be destroyed...
The CH building was a landmark?? I thought it was a shining example of a concrete monster with no street-level public interface on any side of it.
This website has lots of great photos of Halifax landmarks, then and now (and as they were demolished): http://www.halifaxhistory.ca/
I stumbled upon it one day and check back regularly for updates. The photos of the NS Power Fantasyland display in the 60s are fantastically creepy!
Crazy.... This gets me thinking that the Coast should start a demolition gallery for Halifax... The process of our landmarks being destroyed. I took a bunch of photos around 16 years ago of old buildings on Barrington getting raised that I could contribute :)
