For those of you still whining that Halifax is a fashion wasteland, it’s time to get over it. A few weeks ago, national fashion media were losing their knee-high boots over Katrina Tuttle‘s spring 2010 collection at Toronto Fashion Week (here she is on Fashion Television). Twenty-one-year-old Tuttle made history as the first Atlantic Canadian designer to appear at TFW. Bet she won’t be the last.

We caught up with Tuttle on Thursday night as she showcased her spring collection, appropriately called “The Princess and the Pleat,” at a private showcase held at Gallery Page and Strange. This season, Tuttle is offering more than just vintage-inspired girly-girl frocks and frills (which we love as much as Betty Draper), look for more structured, versatile pieces like jackets, in a wash of raw silk. Pink, of course, is the colour.
