Popping up on the waterfront on June 1 is Twice Upon A Time, a children’s clothing store created by Amanda Langley. Since January 2011, Langley has been reclaiming used fabrics to create clothing for kids, and this summer she’ll be situated in a used shipping container near Murphy’s Cable Wharf. “The seasonal kiosk needed something new and fresh to showcase the unique qualities of the building. Murphy’s is a family business and love that I’m a local mom with something new to offer,” said Langley. Her products are available in several locations (P’lovers, Halifax and Mahone Bay, Fiddleheads, Dartmouth and The Storehouse, Hydrostone) but at last, Langley will have a container to call her own. The salvaged shipping container is a perfect fit for Langley, who uses men’s dress shirts, sweaters, blankets and vintage pillowcases to create her one-of-a-kind baby and toddler clothing. Her petite shop will also carry handmade items made by other mom-preneurs, like prints, quilts, toys and soaps. “I hope the shop is a destination for locals as well as tourists and offers a new shopping experience for Halifax families and gift seekers looking for the handcrafted, organic, and reclaimed products in a wee boutique shopping experience!”
