A fun and funky emporium has opened at the Harbourview Weekend Market in Dartmouth—9am to 4pm Saturday and Sunday—called The Monkey’s Paw Curio Shop (441-0429). It’s run by local Halifax film community art department staple, the reverend Bob Chiasson and actor and artist Scott Owen. “We are the smallest antique shop ever to open in the HRM,” explains Chiasson. “With a floor space of 6′ by 16′ we’re more of an antique walk-in closet, but don’t let that discourage you. We’ve still managed to stock hundreds of really cool items and everything is within easy reach.” Items, updated weekly, include the odd, super-weird and downright bizarre. “If you’re looking for a movie card from the 1960s of masked Mexican wrestlers fighting zombies, we’ve got it,” says Chiasson. “And yes we’ve even got a 19th century sideshow desiccated monkey paw.”

This place is the bomb! I went over for their grand opening and they were giving away these little cupcakes with tiny monkey paw toothpicks in them. They have an awesome stuffed cane toad!
How does Rev. Bob get around the store with his wheelchair? Really sorry to read that he lost his legs to an IED in Afghanistan.
