May 2, from 10am-6pm, Tammachat Natural Textiles is bringing its fair trade creations to the Universalist Unitarian Church (5500 Inglis), offering organic silk scarves, organic cotton scarves and bags of all sorts—including hand-woven bamboo bags, hemp and leather purses—as well as jackets, wrap pants, cushion covers and more. At 1pm there’ll be a slideshow on the groups of women who live along the banks of the Mekong River in Northeast Thailand, weaving the organic cotton that goes into many of the Tammachat products. If you can’t make it to the church on time, you can find Tammachat textiles at the Sawadee Tea House in Granville Mall (1871 Granville, 422-4192) or order from them directly online at tammachat.com.
