We have never seen a non-politician enter the council realm as successfully as has Steve Craig. He has hit the ground running, and is well representing his constituents.

Craig’s first act was to bring forward problems with stormwater systems in his beleaguered Sackville. It’s a problem faced all over HRM: shitty suburban development was OKed by the old county government, with little or no regard for storm runoff, and as more land was paved over, homeowners found themselves flooded out with each rain. Previous councillors have failed to successfully deal with the issue, but Craig brought a no-nonsense approach to it, cutting through the bureaucratic thicket of city hall like a heavy rain carving a canyon into the broken ashphalt of Old Sackville Road. And now, just like that, $3 million a year is going to upgrade storm water infrastructure.

This is how it is done.
