Last year, I was horrified as I watched a high-speed police chase come right down Victoria Road, just five minutes before both Dartmouth High and Bicentennial School let out. Just those five minutes later, and kids would’ve been killed.
And today, there’s this:
A man wanted by police for escaping custody has been captured following a police chase and multi-vehicle crash in Dartmouth on Thursday.
Three vehicles were involved in the accident around 5:30 p.m. AT following a dramatic chase along Highway 107. The pursuit ended when a black vehicle driven by the wanted man tried to exit the highway onto Broom Street and struck a van, which flipped onto its side.
A third vehicle driven by a woman was also involved in the crash. The badly shaken woman suffered minor injuries, while the condition of the van driver is unknown.
There will of course be times of imminent danger, when high speed chases will be required. But neither of these incidents rose to that level.
