Lucky for our kitchen, coffee and bedside tables we’ve found the perfect coasters for absorbing any drips, drops and spills that may ensue after a few glasses of your favourite vintage. Made by Henley Brand, and brought to Halifax by Gottingen newcomer The Independent Mercantile Co. (2091 Gottingen Street), these cuties ($26 for a set of four) are repurposed from old—like, pre-1959—78rpm records, backed with felt and cut down to perfect size to catch your glasses run-off. You’re not going to want to get them dirty at first, but you’ll get over it.
