Serpentine Studio's new beginning

Moving and shaking its studio from Barrington to Spring Garden Road

“We really did like our space, and being on Barrington, but there was a lot of uncertainty with our lease, and the block,” says Sepentine Studios’ co-founder Laura Selenzi.

After three years of gracing the big windows on Barrington Street, bringing bellydance, hula hoop, burlesque, Middle Eastern drumming and more to Halifax, the studio announced it’d be moving to Spring Garden Road this fall. Selenzi says the new spot—1489 Birmingham Street, the former Ashtanga Shala above lululemon—is practically perfect. “This is even better than our current space,” she says. “It’s in the Mills building, which is pretty charming. And it’ll be more versatile, being able to open up to a larger space or close down to two smaller spaces.”

Serpentine will continue on as normal on Barrington Street until the end of July, and plans to kick things off at the new address come September.
