Kids boutique Ragamuffin Kids (5475 Spring Garden) has indeed closed up shop. “Spring Garden Road can be a tough place to do business, if you’re starting a new one,” says owner Lisa Risley, who also owns The Plaid Place in the Barrington Place Shops (Kids’s storefront was once home to a second Plaid Place location). Risley opened the store because she saw a “complete lack” of kids’ clothing options downtown. The space has been leased to the Le Chateau next door, which will expand. Risley will focus on Plaid Place—expect a website re-vamp soon. She’s still bummed about the Kids closure, though: “I think it’s sad. I still think that needed downtown. But it…won’t be us.”
