To the editor,

I enjoyed Bruce Wark’s “Auto correction” (Upfront column, Mar. 12),
on auto insurance in this province. As consumers who purchase car
insurance in this province know, especially in Halifax, there are no
“real” resources to help you when there are major issues. The
government did nothing for insurance buyers except let rates
go up. There are no rate controls, tax controls or rent
controls here at all to protect and help consumers with this things.
Tits on a bull would be more useful than powerless and useless
boards who do nothing to help the average Joe here. Thank you,
Bruce, for bringing this to light again. We need more
coverage of greedy insurance companies, landlords and monopolized
services in this province, or this government and its puppet boards
will surely do nothing about them.

The need for public auto insurance

Public automobile insurance was introduced in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and BC by NDP governments. If Darrell Dexter gets it, will he give us the insurance policy we need?
