District 23 is free of Gary Meade! They should hold a parade and launch fireworks each October to mark the anniversary of Meade’s retirement. And I’m hoping that his replacement, Peter Lund, poured salt on Meade’s former chair before occupying it, killing whatever pestilence may have survived the transition, and waved burning sage in the general vicinity to ward off the spirits of disgraceful governance.

Lund is, obviously, a welcome relief. He’s a thoughtful chap, and whenever I think he’s going to fall into Meade-like maniacal “bulldoze everything” mode—Lund was initially big on flattening every house along Bayers Road to speed the commute for Hammonds Plainsians—he turns around and throws a curve ball, like having interesting things to say about increasing transit.

More than that, Lund is simply a nice guy. He adds to the decorum of council chambers.

But, fact is, Lund’s not come to speed as yet. I have no idea where he’s going to take his council position.

  1. You say, “Lund’s not come to speed as yet”. Tim, I don’t think he’s even put the keys in the ignition.
Watching him on TV I wonder why he is there. Did he ever go to a council meeting prior to being elected ? Looks way out of his depth. Or, went out for a walk one night to find the car keys and when he arrived back home discovered he was a councillor. Some day he’ll come good.

  2. Peter Lund is doing a great job, even spent his days off volunteering at the sailboat races. I hope he is here to stay.
