Behind the Quinpool Centre, located in an original barn behind the houses on Allan Street, Home Grown Organic Foods (6188 Allan Street, 492-1412) is a produce-lover’s treasure trove. Fresh organic foods, much of it sourced locally (the bananas come from away, of course) are the star here, including free range chicken, grass fed beef, cookies, bread, wild blueberries, with local apples and squash in right now. It’s probably best known for its vegetable box deliveries, which you can schedule weekly, biweekly or monthly.
The big news for fans for fans of the business, they’re looking to open a second location in September 2011 on Gottingen Street across from the library. (Whether the current location will stay open is uncertain that this point.)
