Every summer around this time, the Nova Scotia Designer Craft Council (1113 Marginal Road, 423-3837) hosts their big sale in the parking lot so recently occupied by the Halifax Jazz Festival tent. This weekend it’s happening again, with 10-15,000 attendees expected, if previous years are anything to go by. You’ll find work of the by the NSDCC’s fine craftspeople, including clothing made from vintage fabrics (hand-dyed silks or handwoven jackets), handmade kitchenware, jewellery, and artists working in glass, visual art, wood, textiles, metal and clay. Demonstrators will show their skills in handcoiling clay, stitching, basketry spinning, weaving and metalwork. All this will take place Friday July 23, 10am-8pm, Saturday July 24, 10am-6pm and Sunday July 25, 10am-5pm. Look for the collection of tents.
