Zero new cases. Nada, none, zilch. The province is reporting that no new cases of COVID-19 have been diagnosed in Nova Scotia. It’s taken 75 days to get here, but Friday, May 29 the humans get a win.
Public health doctor Robert Strang announced Nova Scotia’s first C19 infections on Sunday, March 15. We were the last province to get cases, but we caught up fast. Every single day since then, we have had new cases.
The worst day was April 23, a Thursday, when there were 55 new cases, plus four people died of the disease. There were better days, with just one or two cases. There were always cases, though. For 75 relentless days the cases have come, 1,055 damn cases in all, more than every province and territory in Canada except BC, Alberta, Ontario and Quebec.
1,055 cases and 59 people dead from this fucking virus. And today a breakthrough. It’s not the end of the war, as Strang is sure to tell us at his 3pm briefing. But it’s a battle won. Congratulations, Nova Scotia, we’ve earned it.

There are still too many people who are not taking this virus seriously….. Wear a mask and keep your distance.

Great statement but did you have to use the “f” word? It reads less intelligent when language is at street level.
I totally agree with you Tom. I see so many people not wearing masks in shops, apparently these people are concerned about the health of others. Shame on these people.
This will be short-lived if we don’t continue to follow the rules. We still should be wearing those masks that Dr. Tan suggested and still keeping the proper distance. During the second round of the Flu in 1918-1919 no matter how much people protested they did not open. The opening did not happen until all the cases were gone. It did not just fade off and never come back. The people took the bull by the horns and worked on it. We have to keep all our boarders still closed. This is opening pandora’s box. Look what one person who really broke a rule caused in NB. Quebec the highest hit province in the country has started to open up. That was smart more illness has come with it including children that had returned to school. Our life will not come back to normal for a long time yet. If people don’t pay attention we will be getting our second wave in the Fall.
