Anastasia Manolakos, who used to own Anointment Natural Skincare and sell her products out of Foxy Moon (which is owned by her sister, Evyeneia) has a new endeavour: Earth’s Oven Organic Bakery now open at the Halifax Farmers’ Market (1496 Lower Water Street) in the same room as Mike’s Fish Shop. “The bakery specializes in custom made organic cakes using only pure local maple syrup and honey for sweeteners,” writes Anastasia in an email. Sounds like an ideal stop for holiday sweets. You can order cakes in a host of enticing flavours; maple vanilla, whole wheat carrot, chocolate, chocolate peanut butter cake and coconut cake. Or try bakery treats such as date squares, maple pecan squares and oatmeal chocolate chip and peanut butter cookies.
