This Saturday on the Common comes a big celebration called “Mudder’s Day.” Halifax’s burgeoning urban ag community was the impetus for the party, but lots of alternative types have jumped on board. There’s a complete explanation of the event here, including a run down of events:
Gardening workshops * Noon: Talk by Marjorie Willison (Maritime Noon’s gardening expert) with question answer session * 1pm: Seed starting workshop (supplies available throughout day when someone wants to try) * 2 pm: vermi-compost * 3pm: native plant walk * 4pm: sheet mulching * 5pm: close vermicompost
Art workshops * Drum making * Bowl making * and more!
Health workshops * Tai chi demo * Breast and ovarian cancer awareness * Meditation
The Halifax Midwifery Coalition will host a “red tent” for women and friends.
