On Friday, July 3, Shoptalk found Mike Leigh of popular Argyle Street spot Bitter End (1572 Argyle) busily preparing for the 5pm the opening of his new endeavour, Loose Cannon. At 1566 Argyle, it’s right next door to Bitter End in the former home of Fizz Champagne Bar. Leigh says diners will find a “real place for regulars” that cleaves to what people expect from a genuine pub experience, with 15 draught beers, 40 different brands of domestic and imported beer in bottles and 70 different types of scotch, American and Canadian whiskeys. That pub experience continues on the food front, with fish and chips, shepherd’s pie and bangers and mash, with haggis prepared for special occasions. Watch for Robbie Burns Day to be celebrated with gusto January 25.

I was there on Thursday, Aug 6.
$16.00 for 2 mugs of Coors Light..
Too much , won’t be back…
I would never recommend this pub for anyone hungry or in a rush. I walked out without eating. I waited over 45 minutes for food that never came. The waitress knew I was going to a show and had to leave at a certain time. She told me three times that the food would be right out. The last time she promised it would be one the table in less than 10 minutes. 20 minutes later I left. There were only a handful of other people in the pub, not busy at all. This was pathetic. The worst dining experience I’ve ever had. Don’t go here.
Yah, I heard their drink prices are off the hook. If its 8 bucks for a beer I shudder to think what a 18yo Glenfiddich will set me back. yowch.
