Kendra Marshman is bringing her locally produced handmade jewelry to
Put Me On Consignment (1532 Queen St, 492-2572) all the way from
Ontario. Marshman, who started making jewelry when she was young,
named her line LIV Designs after the Norwegian word for life to
represent her heritage.

Marshman focuses on using semi precious stones, whimsical charms and
nickel free materials in her unique jewelry. Her designs includes lots
of moonstones, feather charms, and Swarovski crystals. A particularly
interesting piece is her highest selling product, a harmonica
necklace, which actually plays in
the key of C. (pictured above).

For Marshman though, it’s more than the material that makes her products unique.

“My products are unique because of the special attention to detail.
My jewelry is tested before it hits the store to ensure it’s made
properly. All pieces come with a handmade paper tag telling the name
of the piece, the materials used and what the stones mean. A lot of
love, time and energy is put into every piece and you just can’t get
that everywhere these days,” says Marshman. She wants her clients to
look good and feel good, including some jewelry for males too.

Marshman makes her jewelry in her home studio in downtown Halifax and
offers custom sessions in stores where customers pick their own beads
and charms, which she then proceeds to make into a one of a kind piece
of jewelry for them.

“My future plans for LIV designs are to secure at least another store
in Halifax for the summer season. I find that my jewelry does better
in a retail scenario than it does in markets. That being said, I’m
looking into Busker’s Fest to see if there is any possibility of
selling in that time period,” says Marshman.”
