Calling themselves “Atlantic Canada’s first and only dedicated three-dimensional recording service,” Kall Binaural Audio (3248 Pennington Street, 495-7788) opened at the beginning of December, offering professional studio services to musicians and anyone else in need.

Binaural audio uses a specialized microphone modeled after an acoustically accurate human head. Owner Alex Kall is able to record sound through artificial ears . The microphone—nicknamed “Fritz”—is complete with synthetic skin, molded rubber ears and omnidirectional microphones embedded in its ear canals.
