Beloved bakery, patisserie and cafe Julien’s (5517 Young Street, 455-9717) has quietly changed hands. The delicious baked goods are still being supplied by Didier Julien‘s homebase in Chester, but the cafe is now run by Duane Malone. This happened A while ago.
“Going forward,” as an addition to any sentence is redundant. It’s an empty rhetorical gesture. Since one cannot go backwards in any meaningful way, one can only “go forwards.” The sentence reads perfectly well as “Watch this space for more details on Malone’s vision for the business.”
The possession of elementary syntax skills should not afford one license to chastise in the manner demonstrated by Mr. Laws. Apart from attempting to educate the illiterate masses in the better use of the English language, what we the readers are left with is the sense of a rather small person with a extraordinarily large view of himself.
