Update: The posters may already be taken down. Stroink’s office called The Coast to let us know they couldn’t see any up when workers went out looking this afternoon.
Well, somebody had a busy Tuesday night.
Residents in the Halifax Chebucto riding were greeted today to posters demanding the capture of Liberal MLA Joachim Stroink.

JOACHIM STROINK
For:
Negligent representation of citizens, ignorance of culture, being an ineffective politician.”
No mention of whether the Trail Shop-owning Stroink is wanted dead or alive.
The posters were up along Robie, from at least Jubilee Road to Cunard Street, and down some of the side streets.
The “negligent representation,” “ignorance of culture” and “ineffective politician” charges on the poster could be for any number of Liberal maneuvers over the last month. Between film tax credit cuts, university tuition caps lifted and community service cuts, Liberal MLAs are facing their faire share of criticisms.
Stroink, of course, has come under fire before for that whole blackface thing a couple years back. At the very least, Stroink is definitely guilty of wearing paisley (PAISLEY, for god’s sake).
No one has claimed responsibility for the posters…yet. Could they be the work of angry film industry workers? Bored university students on summer break? NDP supporters looking for a fight? Reveal yourselves, sneaky activists!
We reached out to Stroink’s constituency office, who were oblivious of the posters entirely. The NS Liberal caucus office didn’t immediately return The Coast’s calls.
So, head ups Joachim: you might want to reconsider the paisley and opt for a poncho and cowboy boots instead.

Maybe it’s because he doesn’t respond to phone calls/emails from constituents unless they’re stroking his ego?
The link to the paisley photo is broken. Also: is he on the record about where he stands on the government’s policies? I got the sense from my numerous calls to his constituency office that he didn’t agree with the government’s decision re: the tax credit. I have, however, sent a number of emails to his address and not received a response… that said, I have also sent Pro Skates emails and not received a response so I don’t think that’s the end of the world.
Is there a radical cell of anarchist chimney sweeps in town, because that’s who I would suspect first.

I don’t know about the trashy comments here, or the trashy article. Its getting to the point that public service isn’t worth the effort to the clowns in the gallery. How about offering some solutions?
He responded to my message on Facebook during the early days of the film credit fiasco. I think he is at least in part victim of the leadership of the party. However, he will soon have to choose between his values and his Liberal masters if he is to maintain any credibility. That’s when we – and he – will find out who he is.

Seriously, he obviously joined the wrong party. Well, not really though, he joined the party that would get him a seat, so I guess he made the right decision politically speaking.

I have known Joachim and have been friends with him since Junior high. This whole article and poster is bullshit. Let’s break it down for a second.
There are many students in his riding and they will not likely be in NS when the next election happens let alone live in NS when they graduate.
This poster and the comments are bs because if the people wrote them understood how the legislature and government works they’d understand this. HE IS A BACK BENCHER PEOPLE. HE HAS NO REAL POWER OR INFLUENCE. He is not a minister. The headlines of a minister stepping down or crossing the floor is far more powerful then a backbencher doing it, which is the purpose of this poster and this article which is shaming my friend.
The Film Tax Credit. Its terrible. The premier and his people are basically starting a micro recession and are putting a lot of people out of work. For Joachim to get re-elected it is questionable whether he should cross the floor or go indie. The next election is a long time a way and there is a growing silent majority of Nova Scotians who think that the Tax credit should go away and that its good what he had to do with the cuts. But that is because the Masses are usually too lazy or too stupid to read the fine print. The gov’t has made a huge mistake and have gambled away the futures of a lot of people. Lots of Nova Scotians will have to move even still with the fake $10 million cap. Screen NS got played. Should he cross the floor? Probably should wait a bit to see how far this mistake goes. Joachim stepping aside or crossing the floor won’t change the gov’t’s stance. It might make you douchebags not call my friend I’ve known for 30 years call him a douchebag as much but as real douchebags do douchey things you probably will anyway.
The Black Face incident. Lets get down to it. The person who made the poster brought it back up. Super hurtful to him. His family and friends and to the black community. Hurtful to the afro-Canadian people of Nova Scotia and everywhere, but this is a guy who basically got on his hands and knees and begged for forgiveness on National television and this fucking idiot made this poster as a jab because he/she didn’t like the response to what has been happening in the budget. He is a fucking back bencher. He has no power. This is a move literally right out of high school making a stupid poster like that. And Jessica Flower now has a future at Frank Magazine. I’m sure her various agenda’s will be fulfilled.
I think that the point of these (since this is only one of a few different politician wanted posters folks have seen around) is just to point out the general negligence of the people who are elected to represent citizens and their disconnection from the issues that matter most to actual residents of Nova Scotia. It’s not about who has the most power, it’s about calling them ALL out for not standing up for the people they’re supposed to represent.
