To the editor,
I used to think Halifax was a fairly sophisticated city, not severely dwarfed by Toronto and Vancouver. But the behaviour of the audience at the Junos has me wondering: are all Atlantic Canadians crude blue-collar types who hang on to old injustices that give them the long end of the stick? Sure, seal hunters are making a living. But so are pushers, pimps and pornographers.
Living in Alberta, I am self-conscious about the beef industry and rodeo. If not for the cost of living in England, I’d fly over there, and become a citizen of an imperfect but more civilized nation. England has far fewer guns, far fewer good ol’ boys who like to kill animals and even a lower murder rate.
