What’s wrong? Illegal dump sites on watershed land.
Who’s responsible? David Hendsbee, councillor for the area, 483-0705.
Remarks: Hendsbee is clearly frustrated at the illegal dumping along Upper Governors Street, which leads through the Lake Major Watershed to North Preston. The junk—roofing materials, construction waste, broken appliances and the like is repeatedly trucked in and dumped by unscrupulous contractors and other ne’er-do-wells who don’t want to pay landfill tipping fees. Nearby residents are vexed; annual community clean-ups can’t stay on top of the problem, and “no dumping” signs do no good.
