A trio of Victorian homes in Halifax met with the wrecking ball this weekend after a developer was unable to find someone to relocate them.
The homes at 1441, 1455 and 1467 South Park St. were scheduled to be demolished to make room for the 19-storey Trillium condominium project W.M. Fares Group will build.
In maintenance terms, the houses had been left to decline for decades. Whatever value they may have had one day long ago, there really wasn’t any hope that anyone would want them today, and it was a cynical exercise in political spin to suggest otherwise. This is how things are done– let buildings fall all to shit, then point at the shitty buildings and say they aren’t worth anything so they have to be torn down.
I wonder how much in overtime wages they had to pay to get the houses torn down in the dead of a holiday weekend.
